Mobile App
My Ride Manager is used by patients or caregivers to manage current and future local taxi or Lyft rides to and from medical facilities. Payment of each ride is covered by the user's insurance plan.

Similar to Uber, it allows users to view where their taxi is on a map and tells the users the expected time of arrival.
Users can rate trips and view the number of remaining trips they have associated with their medical coverage.
Problem

Our client had an idea of what they wanted the app to do, it was our job to design a positive user experience and create an appealing user interface. We had to take into account that some users would be physically or visually impaired.

Important information was laid out in large clear text and overall experience was kept as simple as we could to make viewing and starting trips as seamless as possible.

Web Application

The second aspect of the project was creating a web application that allows medical facilities to view and start trips for patients. The app allows for staff to search for a specific patient using either their name or insurance number and viewing what trips that patient has scheduled.

A use case that we had to take into account were patients leaving treatment and needing a ride home. These patients are often impaired due to medication and medical facility staff is in charge of getting them home. A "will call" was designed to handle these situations. A "will call" trip is a trip that has no set pickup time associated with it, activating that trip will call dispatch and send a taxi as soon as possible to pick up the patient.
Similar to the mobile app, the web application allows facility staff to view a patients trip on a map. This allows patients how are unable to access their phones or who don't have the mobile app, to ask staff about there upcoming taxi rides.
Conclusion

My Ride Manager has been a very successful project and we're continuing work with the client to add new features and improve overall user experience on both the mobile app and the web application.
